The Zenmuse L3 offers a maximum detection range of 950 m at a pulse rate of 100 kHz, even when tested under 100 klx ambient lighting and on targets with 10% reflectivity. Its adjustable pulse rate provides adaptable power output, enabling optimal performance across various mission environments. Operating at typical flight altitudes of 300 to 500 m further expands single-flight coverage and significantly enhances overall mapping efficiency.
Long Range, Broad Area Capability


With a laser beam divergence of only 0.25 mrad (1/e²), the Zenmuse L3 produces a spot size that is roughly one-fifth that of the Zenmuse L2 at the same range, allowing it to detect finer details such as power lines and small branches. The increased energy density enhances penetration capability, delivering substantially higher ground point density beneath vegetation and enabling precise reconstruction of complex terrain and structural features.

With a maximum laser pulse emission rate of 2 million pulses per second and support for up to 16 returns [4], the Zenmuse L3 provides exceptionally accurate spatial reconstruction. Its point cloud density and penetration performance can be fine-tuned to meet the requirements of high-precision mapping as well as challenging, complex environments.

The enhanced high-precision POS system delivers heading accuracy of 0.02° and pitch accuracy of 0.01° (post-processed, 1σ). The in-house–developed LiDAR achieves 5 mm ranging repeatability at 150 m (1σ) [5] and supports microsecond-level time synchronization. Every unit undergoes strict factory calibration to ensure consistently dependable surveying performance.
LiDAR Data Accuracy
Vertical accuracy reaches better than 3 cm at 120 m, better than 5 cm at 300 m, and better than 10 cm at 500 m [6], making it fully capable of supporting mapping tasks at 1:500, 1:1000, and 1:2000 scales. The Zenmuse L3 also produces point clouds with thickness reduced by half compared to the Zenmuse L2, enabling more advanced analysis and high-precision applications.

Photogrammetric Accuracy
Equipped with dual 100 MP RGB mapping cameras, the Zenmuse L3 achieves a 3 cm GSD even when operating at a 300 m flight altitude [7]. Its real-time position synchronization allows missions to be carried out without the need for ground control points (GCPs), ensuring high-quality imagery suitable for precise photogrammetric mapping.
